It is hereby declared to be the public policy of the state of Illinois that, in order to safeguard the life, health, property, and public welfare of its citizens, the business of roofing construction, reconstruction, alteration, maintenance and repair is a matter affecting the public interest, and any person desiring to obtain a license to engage in the business will be required to pass the Illinois roofing license exam.

Illinois requires roofing contractors to pass the IL roofing exam to obtain a license to work in the state. IL requires the following roofing licenses depending on what type of work your company intends to offer:

• Residential (Limited License)

• Residential, Commercial and Industrial (Unlimited License)

• Commercial/Industrial (Candidate must pass Residential exam before)
